In search of the Light

The journey to find the light has been enlightening. The road to darkness in a way inspired me to crave self-love within my soul and mind. For a while, the light has been reaching out to me so I can move on. The light to me represents a bright star shining in the dark sky. But I found that I am immune to the darkness and fear the light. I am familiar with pain and sadness which causes me to be skeptical of what the light can offer me. The light will provide what I longed for, the truth and happiness. I always dreamed of finding the light and becoming genuinely happy. This journey has not been easy and in a way affected my writing as a poet. The themes of depression, isolation and resentment embodied my first drafts of my poems. In my drafts of my poetry now, I include themes of happiness, confidence and wanting to find love. I realize that poetry helped me overcome my darkness and this is a monumental change for me. I am close to finding the light in my life. The path I take will guide me through my life choices. Maybe that’s why I’m afraid to move on and accept changes in my life.

The light will nourish my tarnished soul.
